About Our Farm
5 star hygiene rated by Wrexham council EHO!!!
Trying to do sustainable, low in-put meat boxes, and hopefully by summer of 2027 also be selling veg boxes. All animals are slaughtered and butchered by a family butchers in Rhosllanerchrugog, only 10 minutes drive from the family farm.
I bought my first sheep in 2016 as father didn’t want sheep in his farm business after getting rid of his in 2001, and I have slowly grown my enterprise, I have bought my first pigs in November 2025, and I’m trying to persuade father to let me sell his beef in boxes if I get enough people interested.
I sell meat boxes to order, and they are priced to include delivery up to 20minutes drive from Rhosllanerchrugog, Wrexham. Delivery further or postage using woolcool insulated boxes are options and will be priced independently on order. They are sold as either full boxes or half boxes, with different cuts optional and available on request.
Currently available to order:
Mutton (like lamb but stronger taste);
I buy older welsh speckled hill sheep from the mountains to give another year or two of rearing lambs on a lowland farm where the grass quality is improved compared to the mountainous terrains they are used to. When they are no longer fit to breed for another year, or empty at scanning they become available for mutton boxes, otherwise they head to market. They only get fed grass except for at lambing time, mid January (pre lambing) to mid April when the grass is growing ahead of their needs.
Mutton is sold in half boxes and butchered as chops, back leg as diced and front leg and breast as mince. £75 per half, approx 10kg in the box.
Available from End of September 2026.
Lamb;
Lambed outside with minimal supplementary feed and human intervention, fed only grass. Lambs are Blue texel crossed with welsh speckled or with home reared welsh mules.
Available as a full lamb or half a lamb, and butchered as chops and joints and the joints can be kept whole or cut in half. I normally get the joints cut in half as standard for a half box.
Available from late June 2026 onwards until November. Full lamb is £200 for approximately 20kg in a box, half a lamb is £110 for approximately 11kg in a box (bigger lamb).
Pigs/pork;
Still learning with this one, currently have Welsh and Welsh x OSB. Different cuts available, and can also do sausages and/or cured (bacon and hams) best to discuss options personally. For half a box/pig £210 or full pig £420 this is done as 1/2 pork, 1/4 sausages and 1/4 bacon and hams. Other options are available. Half a pig as pork only is £140, full pig is £280. Sausages are sold at £10.50 per kg for a box of sausages.
Beef;
These are father’s and he is reluctant at present. We need 8 buyers (full boxes – half boxes available if enough request) to take one animal to the abattoir. They are home bred and reared Aberdeen Angus crossed with crossbred beef cows off dairy cows (beef animal for the butchers grandmother was a dairy cow and the mother was bought into the farm as a calf, and father is a pedigree Aberdeen Angus). They are slow grown with plenty of affection. Grass reared and finished with home grown barley and a touch of concentrate. We are looking at £320 approximately 22kg in a box, and a box includes mixed cuts including steaks, joints, diced and minced beef.

1 Review on “G. Hughes Meat Boxes”
Iv just bought my first mutton boxes. The meat looks great. Had lots of communication with Gareth before hand through Facebook messenger with exact pricing, when they would be delivered, if I would like the earth and liver included. Great seller and highly recommended.
